Global Partnerships for Excellence in Education, Research, and Service (Global PEERS) is a non-profit organization designated by the US IRS as a 501(c) 3 organization.  The directors, advisors, consultants, and leadership include representatives from healthcare, education, public health, as well as people living with HIV/AIDS.

 

 

Global Partnerships for Excellence in Education, Research, and Service

First Partners Initiative

Purpose:  To increase effectiveness, capacity, and sustainability of HIV/AIDS projects

Goals: 

bulletSupport and improve efficacy of current Foundation efforts in East Africa
bulletBroaden the impact of Foundation efforts in East Africa and other areas.
bulletIncrease the visibility and viability of Foundation efforts and programs

Strategies:

bulletCreate a network of individuals and institutions and engage same in a minimum three-year commitment to dialogue and joint efforts
bulletEstablish offices, appoint and hire staff in the US with existing relationships with East African sites, local and international resources, and/or successful project and grant management skills.
bulletEstablish presence among local and international leadership in person, in local, regional, national, and international site, and create/maintain an online presence for resource development and distribution.

Immediate objectives (6 months):

bulletCreate immediate partnerships for at least partial program support
bulletDesign and deliver educational and training programs targeting opinion leaders
bulletDesign and utilize evaluation tools to measure effectiveness
bulletDescribe and evaluate programs and submit for publication to peer review journals and publications
bulletModify and adapt current web presence

Median objectives (6 – 12 months)

bulletOn-site evaluation and project development supporting existing Foundation sites
bulletSite visits and linkage to at least three sites with strongest potential for sustainable projects
bulletProposal development in dialogue with partners to establish internet linkage, provide technical assistance, and begin exchange of personnel and ideas between sites
bulletEstablish twining or other appropriate linkages between education (primary, secondary, professional), academic (faculty and program administrators), and business (local and international) leadership to support students and faculty and encourage exchange programs.

Long-term objective (1 – 3 years)

bulletLocal capacity increased due to educational support along a continuum, technical assistance leading to greater program/site capacity and sustainability, and broader and deeper linkage between US and overseas partners, especially involving communities of faith.
