Global Partnerships for Excellence in Education, Research, and Service (Global PEERS) is a non-profit organization designated by the US IRS as a 501(c) 3 organization.  The directors, advisors, consultants, and leadership include representatives from healthcare, education, public health, as well as people living with HIV/AIDS.

Global PEERS focuses on building relationships that transcend traditional boundaries of geography, professional disciplines, and self-interest.  In over fifteen years of involvement in many private and public sector activities, we have garnered support from around the world.

In April, 2007, we were contacted by anonymous representatives of two foundations currently delivering pediatric HIV/AIDS drugs in East Africa.  The advent of new international efforts was having an unforeseen impact: too many medications in too few places.  We were asked a simple question:

"If funding were not an issue, what might you propose?"

Immediately we began to identify key partners and schedule a gathering.  On June 8, 2007, the Irish Cultural Heritage Center hosted a gathering which would mark the beginning of a new effort, the First Partners Initiative
